Kookaburra 2012 Range - Exclusive to Austin Adaptive Sports...
It could be argued that Kookaburra would be within its rights to patent the sound of leather on willow such is the pivotal role the brand has played in the evolution of cricket.
With traditions as old as the sport itself, the Kookaburra cricket ball is presently used exclusively in all one day international cricket and 85% of Test cricket - a fine testament of trust in a brand that has matched step for step the sport's advancement over the last century.
As cricket has moved forward so has Kookaburra's range of products ensuring that the quality of the equipment being used consistently matched the improving standards being set on the pitch. This reputation for quality and innovation lies at the heart of the Kookaburra brand.
Kookaburra was established in 1890, the brainchild of saddle and harness maker Alfred Grace Thompson. After emigrating to Australia in search of a warmer climate, Thompson found that his trade was being eaten away by the advent of the motor industry and consequently decided to use his experience in leather to expand into the provision of sporting goods. Ably assisted by his sons Bill and Alf, Thompson's traditional production methods were soon in demand, particularly within the burgeoning cricket ball market.
From these beginnings, the Kookaburra brand has been propelled forward by four generations of the Thompson family, all the while remaining true to the need for product development to remain at the core of the business.
